No cold start valve ,sorry! Once you have an error code or a particular failure series from the diagnostic machine you should be able to diagnose your problem. Just wanted to share what I had found and maybe help someone save some time. Unlock and disconnect the electrical connector to the crankshaft position sensor. The wires were rubbed so bad that one was all but separated. The threaded holes are not on the surface but inside the pulley itself. The way I found it was by wiggling the wiring harnesses that go up underneath the module which caused the problem to show up.
To know for sure testing needs to be done. Don't worry about what specific voltage your specific vehicle should output. Is this is the sensor in the engine block near the oil filter? Your best bet is to have it diagnosed by a qualified repair shop. Disconnect the negative battery cable. It's tight under the starter. There is no spark to fire it up. The crankshaft positions sensor is located behind the crankwheel on the passenger side of the engine. I had to remove the fan shroud to access the sensor's one 10mm bolt. Its under the starter on a 2004 nonturbo pt cruiser. Once all this is done begin turning the bolt in the middle of the puller clockwise. It is located under the starter.
Have one person position a screwdriver into the ring gear teeth and have another remove the pulley bolt. Aug 22, 2011 The Crankshaft Position Sensor is located directly next to the starter. What I found by accident during diagnosis was the connectors terminals that plug into the front control module lose terminal tension causing intermittent electrical concerns. I have had more people tell me that these cars pt cruisers have many problems and that something is always going wrong with them. Also check the wiring from both sensors to the harness and see if it has rubbed against something causing a short. When the codes come up it is recommended to replace the sensor. If I remember correctly there is an O-ring that can be a little sticky, so, if you can twist it, you should be able to reach in there with a standard screwdriver and be able to pry between the sensor and the block, should be able to get a putty knife under it to help a little, keep from chewing up the edge of the sensor.
